Textbook Instructions

Your textbooks, most course supplies, and other course resources will be provided to you through the UAT Resource program (covered by a Resource Fee each semester). The UAT Resource Team (resourceteam@uat.edu) manages these materials.

Your e-texts will typically be sent to you either via email from Amazon Kindle or will be accessible in your Canvas course shell via VitalSource.  In some cases, your book may be linked differently.

At the start of each class, there should be a note in your Announcements section in your course shell (see below), with instructions on how to claim your e-book.

EXAMPLE- Amazon Kindle book

During your first week of class, if your e-text is a Kindle Book, you will generally receive an email from Amazon that has a link to accept the  (depending on your situation, you may receive the link via email directly from the UAT Resource Team). Once you navigate to the book link, you will click on the yellow box that will say either "Accept and sign in", or "Accept this Kindle Book" if you are already signed in.

IF YOU RECEIVE THE FOLLOWING ERROR MESSAGE-

Don't panic! Typically when this message occurs, students need to make sure their account is set to United States. You can either click on the link in the pop up to "change your country/region", OR you can navigate in Amazon to Account & Lists > Content Library > Preferences > Country/Region Settings > and select United States.

Then, you should be able to claim your book!

Notes:

  • If your e-book is through Amazon Kindle, you will need to open your student Outlooknot your Canvas Inbox for the link to access.
  • Feel free to reach out to your professors if you do not see an Announcement for the textbook.
  • You will need to use either a personal Amazon account or feel free to create your own in order to claim the book. An Amazon account will not be created for you.
  • The Resource Team is here to assist at all times!  E-mail the resourceteam@uat.edu if you have exhausted all above options and need further support claiming your e-books.
    • If and when you contact the Resource Team for assistance, please make sure to include your information (First and last name, UAT email), as well as the course information (Name of course, instructor , course code). This greatly helps efficiency.
